Antique Georgian Silver and Yellow Gold 3.45ctw Old Cut Diamond Ribbon Brooch
About the Item
A Georgian, diamond, gold, and silver brooch, comprising forty-three old mine cut and rose cut diamonds, and one large pear cut diamonds, set in silver, with a yellow gold backing, fittings, and pin.
This beautiful brooch is designed as an elegant ribbon, looping around a large pear cut diamond. An array of rose and old mine cut diamonds are set in silver, adorning the ribbons, punctuated at the centre with a larger old mine cut diamond, held within a pinched silver setting. A pear-shaped motif drops, set with sparkling old mine cut diamonds, and surrounding the centrepiece of this brooch. Suspended within, is a dropper holding a smaller round cut diamond, from which drops a large pear cut diamond. The pear cut diamond is held within a pinched silver setting, and is bright, white, sparkly and has good clarity. The diamonds are all well-matched with one another, providing depth and sparkle to accentuate the principal diamond. The brooch is fitted with a gold safety catch, fittings, and pin. It would make a wonderful piece of wedding jewellery, and can be worn pinned to clothing, strung on a chain as a pendant, or even in the hair; brooches are wonderfully flexible for wear. The brooch is in good condition, the droppers would have originally been free to move but have been fixed in place. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
