About the Item

Edwardian art nouveau enameled Orchid pendant-brooch. This is a gorgeous three-dimensional flower pendant-brooch, created in America during the Edwardian and the Art Nouveau periods, back in the 1900-1910. The beautiful brooch is rare and very unusual due the orchid motif. The flower brooch has been carefully crafted in the shape of a six-petals orchid in solid yellow gold of 14 karats. It is treated with satin finish and embellished with applications of non-glossy powder enamel with a fabulous gradation of purple, reddish and a hint of yellow. The enamel work is exceptional and meticulous, far exceeding the details of the fibers and veins of the leaves. It is a little jewel with exquisite and exceptional details. It is fitted at the reverse with a horizontal hinged pin bar with a mechanical security hook to wear as a brooch and a fixed ring to wear in a chain. Pearl: Mount in a six-prongs setting, with 1 round white pearl of 3 mm Weight: 3.95 Grams (2.55 Dwt). Measurements: 27 mm by 27 mm by 11 mm (1.38 x 1.06 x 0.39 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark and the mark for the assay and warranty of the .585/.999 gold as follows: "14KT". Edwardian Jewelry This period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era rings tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the rings were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these rings is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for.
