Belle Époque Carved Yellow Gold Eagle Brooch

About the Item

A Belle Époque carved yellow gold eagle brooch, of neo-classical design including swags, Greek-key motifs and a centrally carved eagle surmounting a single claw-set old brilliant-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.2 carats, all mounted in gold and suspending an articulated single pearl drop, bearing French gold mark for 18ct gold, circa 1890, measuring 4 x 3.5cm, gross weight 8 grams. This antique brooch is in excellent condition for its age. This lovely French brooch was made in around 1890, during the Belle Epoque period. This brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and was created in the neoclassical style. The central eagle holds a lively diamond in its claws and is surrounded by meander or Greek key motifs as well as swags of gold culminating in a lustrous pearl. This wonderful brooch wonderfully incorporates both naturalistic and neoclassical motifs. Should you choose to make this purchase we will delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
