French Antique Art Deco 18K Yellow Gold and Platinum Diamond Openwork Bow Brooch
About the Item
An Art Deco diamond, black silk, yellow gold, and platinum brooch, comprising one old European cut diamond, two old single cut diamonds, and eighteen rose cut diamonds, set in platinum, with 18 karat yellow gold pin and fittings, accented with black silk ribbon.
This brooch is designed as a stylised bow. An Art Deco take on a classic bow brooch, with striking angles and geometry – a highly coveted piece. The brooch is set to the centre with the largest diamond, an old European cut diamond, which is held within an elegant bezel setting, with millegrain edging. A pair of old single cut diamonds are set vertically with the larger diamond, and are similarly set, the cool tone of the platinum bringing out their fire. From the centre, the brooch fans out, creating the classic bow shape, the brooch uses openwork to cleverly create a geometric pattern, which is particularly striking against the deep black of the silk ribbon. It is unusual to find a brooch such as this, with the original contrasting silk ribbon intact. Rose cut diamonds are held within marquise shaped settings, edged with millegrain, creating a delicate brooch, with strong design features. The brooch is fitted with a yellow gold pin and C-shaped catch. The brooch is in great condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The brooch measures 17mm high, and 38mm wide, and is 3mm deep (excluding brooch fittings). Including the black silk ribbon, the brooch measures 55mm wide.
