French Art Deco 1920s Platinum 2.88tgw Sapphire and Old Cut Diamond Bow Brooch
About the Item
An Art Deco, sapphire, diamond, and platinum brooch, comprising eight calibre step cut blue sapphires, one large old European cut diamond, and fifty-six smaller old European and single cut diamonds, set in platinum, with platinum fittings and pin.
This astonishing, statement Art Deco brooch is set to the centre with an old European cut diamond. The diamond is held within a millegrain edged bezel setting, and is bright, white, and sparkly, with good clarity and colour. The diamond is at the centre of a striking, geometric bow, with a channel of graduating calibre step cut sapphires, with a row of graduating diamonds to each side, creating the ‘ears’ of the bow. The sapphires are a strong blue, and are well-matched with one another, and the diamonds are bright, white, and sparkly. From the centre of the bow, a diamond set bar extends, tapering towards the end. The brooch is complete with a trombone safety clasp, and hinged pin in platinum. The brooch is in excellent condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The brooch measures 9.3mm long, 94mm wide, and 4.3mm deep (excluding pin and fittings).
