Art Deco 1930s Platinum 2.27tgw Old Cut Diamond & Sapphire Brooch or Pendant
About the Item
An Art Deco diamond, sapphire, and platinum brooch, comprising seventeen old European cut diamonds, and eleven French cut sapphires, set in platinum, with platinum pin and fittings.
This chic Art Deco brooch is formed as a circle, half set with diamonds, and half set with sapphires, with a diamond set bow motif to one side. Old European cut diamonds stud the top half of the brooch, held within millegrain edged platinum, and interspersed with openwork, the diamonds graduate in size, creating a 3D effect. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well-matched with one another. The bottom half of the circle is set with calibre French cut sapphires, of a luxurious, deep blue hue. The sapphires are lab created, as was the height of fashion in the Art Deco era. The left side of the brooch has a gorgeous diamond set bow motif, which has been made to wrap around the brooch, as if it had just been tied by hand. The asymmetric bow is set to the centre with a bezel set old European cut diamond, which is bright, white, and sparkly, with good clarity and colour. The bow is further set with bright, white, and sparkly diamonds, which are well-matched with one another. A weighty, well-made piece of exceedingly stylish jewellery. The brooch is complete with a platinum safety catch and pin, along with a loop to either side, allowing it to be worn as a pendant with a double-ended chain. The brooch is in great condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The brooch measures 30mm long, 35.5mm wide, and 6.5mm deep (excluding pin and fittings).
