Georgian Filigree Gold, Piqué and Ruby Butterfly Brooch Circa 1830

About the Item

A fabulous Georgian gold filigree and cannetille detailed pique butterfly brooch adorned with ruby eyes dating from circa 1830. The wonderful early 19th century brooch has a highly detailed and hand formed gold body a top two round, faceted ruby eyes sit from which masterfully crafted proboscis protrude. The wings are further adorned with inlaid gold leaf shaped pieces and centrally set highly ornate gold cannetille work relate from the body of the butterfly. A fabulous piece of antique jewellery history remaining in excellent, wearable condition. Contact us if you require additional images or video clips of this piece. The fine gold work is in very good condition with most details intact and brooch pin opens and closes securely.
