A Georgian Topaz And Pearl Cluster Brooch
About the Item
A Georgian topaz and pearl cluster brooch, the oval faceted topaz estimated to weigh 5.20 carats in a cut-down setting, surrounded by a half pearl cluster all to a yellow gold mount, with brooch fitting, circa 1800, measuring approximately 2 x 2.2cm, gross weight 4.6 grams.
This antique brooch is in good condition. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold, with 9ct gold pin.
This wonderful topaz and pearl brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. It was made in around the end of the 18th century and captures the charm of the Georgian era. This brooch features a lovely honey-hued topaz surrounded by a frame of lustrous half pearls. The pearls provide a wonderful complement to the rich topaz. Topaz and pearl were both popular gems in the Georgian era, and together, they make a bright and beautiful piece.
