Line Vautrin Talosel and Mirrors Brooch

About the Item

This gorgeous and rare Line Vautrin Talosel geometric brooch is encrusted with clear and blue mirrored glass with iridescence in a tridimensional modernist shape. The piece was crafted in Paris in the 1950s. Glass and Talosel resin is a technique created by Line Vautrin, in which she used cellulose acetate that was fractured into tiny splinters and worked with heat. The creation process of the Talosel jewelry had many stages, including making the mirrors, tinting them, molding the Talosel, and embedding smaller mirror fragments into it. This brooch is signed on the back with the small emblem "joux" for "biJOUX" (Jewel). Line Vautrin used this unique trademark for her jewelry collection in the 1950s. The pin is in good condition, with some pieces of glass fractured in the making. Dimensions: 1.57 in wide (3.9 cm) x 1.38 in deep (3.5 cm) x 0.63 in high (1.5 cm).

Line Vautrin School Amber Honey Talosel Resin Brooch
Located in Atlanta, GA
This beautiful and rare dangling brooch was made in the 1970s by one of Line Vautrin's students. The brown Talosel framing boasts an encrusted geometric form with honey amber resin cabochons on a silver foil background. The brooch has a security closing clasp at the back. There is no visible designer's mark. The brooch is in excellent condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions: 1.69 in wide (4.2 cm) x 3.07 in long (7.8 cm). In the 1970s, the boutique Line Vautrin opened on the left bank in Paris and is doing well, but Line is a designer, not a manager, and she needs to be in the creation process. She plans to open and lead a school where she will teach her manufacturing processes. Her daughter, Marie-Laure Bonnaud-Vautrin, taught there for ten years. The students are both enthusiasts who come to spend their free time and also artists searching for new techniques. Some artists who attended the Line Vautrin School...
