About the Item
Exceptional and rare Renaissance Revival Limoges enamel brooch - the colorful portrait miniature of a woman in Renaissance dress and hat against a midnight blue background set within an 18K yellow gold and black enamel decorated oval frame - mounted against a pierced silver 'Gothic' style outer frame set with eight old cut Natural Rubellite Tourmaline gemstones (each approximately 2.8 mm in diameter - .20 carats each - 1.6 carats total) in 18K yellow gold square bezels with Renaissance ball details - all hand made with superb quality and detail - original safety catch and pin - 25th anniversary dedication (in German) to the back of the brooch - indecipherable hallmarks - original silk and velvet fitted presentation case with gilded date to the top - unsigned - circa 1892.
Excellent antique condition - near mint - no loss - no damage - no repairs - minor surface scratches to the enamel (only visible with magnification) - minimal signs of age and use - ready to wear - original fitted presentation case with minor stains and velvet/pile loss at edges/corners.
