About the Item
It's not a just a brooch; it's a story; a narrative.
An emerald-eyed cat and a diamond-encrusted dog with a ruby-red spinel eye both appear quite interested in what would appear to be a cunning bird-house with a windmill attached. The picket fence lets us know: maybe really we are in Kansas after all.
Entirely hand-fabricated in 18K coppery rose gold, the goldsmithing is not only delightful but superb. The single-cut white sapphire and diamond-encruated blades of the windmill actually turn; the red spinel in the center looks electrified.
The cat has an expressive tail and face; one eye is an emerald and the other glass. She is perched on a picket fence. The dachshund will never reach the top of the fence to perch but he's trying and for this reason alone we love him.
As bucolic and ridiculously charming as any brooch could possibly hope to be. This treasure appears to have been created in the 1940s, possibly somewhat earlier. The brooch is approximately 2" tall and 1.30" wide.
The white stones are a combination of colorless sapphires and diamonds, all single-cut.
A great lapel pin for the suit, or pinned to a scarf, sweater or coat. This piece is of very high-quality and is suitable for anyone who requires just a but of extra whimsy in their life.
