Riker Bros. Art Nouveau Ruby Garnet Pearl Basse-Taille 14 Karat Dragonfly Brooch
About the Item
Designed a dragonfly with a segmented gold body and four basse-taille enamel wings. Transparent red, green, and yellow glossy enamel over linear vein-like engraving. Exhibiting minimal loss - accented by 1.0 mm round seed pearls. Bead set in edges of wings - cream in body color with iridescent. Accented by flush set round cut ruby eyes and demantoid garnet body. Transparent bright red and green in color, respectively. With spindly legs and linear engraved body. Completed by hinged pinstem with looped closure and watch-pin. Stamped 14k for 14 karat gold. With maker's mark for Riker Brothers. Circa: 1905. Measures: 1 5/8 x 1 1/2 inches. Total weight: 8.4 grams. Fluttering. Glassy. Gleaming.
