Robert Lee Morris Sterling Silver Squiggle Brooch

About the Item

The iconic organic styling of Robert Lee Morris is so evident in this dramatic large brooch created in the late 1980's. Due to his long collaboration with designer Donna Karan, Robert was tasked with making a line of bold runway brooches for her fall collections in 1987-88. This became a large family of very clean shapes, a new vocabulary of squirming life forms in gleaming silver. Scale for jewelry in the late 1980's was very important, to counter balance the heavy cashmere folds and layers. This particular brooch looks alive and whimsical as it seems to move across the body.
