This 1960s Schreiner New York paisley brooch is a stunner. It measures 2 3/4" long x 2" wide. It incorporates shades of green and blue. It is set with the stones pointing out (pointy side out instead of down) as was Schreiner's signature. It is marked 'Schreiner New York' on the back. Excellent condition. Harry Schreiner got his start in the 1940s by designing jewelry for Pauline Trigere, Norman Norell, and Christian Dior. In 1951 he founded his own firm. Schreiner’s signature was to reverse the setting of rhinestones (point side up instead of point side down). The pieces were never mass produced. Everything was made by hand. Schreiner produced some of the finest costume jewelry ever made and the pieces are highly sought after by collectors. Schreiner ceased operations in 1973.
