Antique Victorian Scottish Banded Agate Bow Brooch

About the Item

A sterling silver banded sardonyx bow, in perfect condition, amazes us with the three dimensional carving of a master work in stone. There is Scottish jewelry and art in Scottish jewelry. This is art. The stones were chosen to be matching and symmetrical. They overlap and undulate. Imagine carving stones i that rise curved from their background and remain in their original condition after 140 years. Enlarge the images and note the central contrasting agate that holds the bow. What a beautiful specimen!. it rises over 1/4 inch creating a third level of agate. Measurements are 2 1/4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches in height. Scotland. c. 1860
