An art deco geometric brooch. Delicate art deco brooch-pendant, created in Newark United States by the Kohn & Co Inc. back in the 1925. This beautiful piece was crafted in white gold of 14 karats and mount with a great selection of gemstones, The stones settings are finished with millegrain patterns. Fitted with a hinged pin bar and a mechanical look to wear as a brooch. Diamonds: Mount in flush millegrain settings, with 6 European round cut diamonds, 0.35 carats, white colorless H color, SI-1 clarity. Green Garnet: Mount in the center in flush setting, with 1 round faceted cut of a vivid green garnet, 0.45 carats. Birthstone: Green Garnet for the month of May. Weight: 4.45 Grams, (2.85 Dwt). Measurements: 47.5 mm by 19 mm (1.83 x 0.75Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed, "14KT K". Kohn & Co. Henry Kohn & Sons was founded by a Bohemian immigrant, Henry Kohn (1839--1917), who arrived in the United State in 1865 and became a naturalized citizen in 1872. Following several years working in different locations in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1898 he established a retail luxury goods store at 890-892 Main Street. The firm remained at that address until 1951, when it was sold to G. Fox and Co. Between 1896 and 1934, the firm manufactured jewelry at the Kohn & Co. factory at Camp and Orchard Streets in Newark, NJ—Newark being home to some 200 jewelry factories in the 19th century. They also maintained a wholesale diamond business at 11 Maiden Lane in New York City, in the heart of what was then New York’s jewelry district.
