A Victorian Diamond Brooch Pendant
About the Item
A Victorian diamond brooch pendant, the central diamond surrounded by an oval cluster formed of graduating old brilliant-cut diamonds, set between four petal-shaped diamond clusters and four fleur-de-lys diamond-set motifs, the diamonds weighing approximately a total of 6 carats, all set in silver to yellow gold back and gold brooch and pendant fittings, circa 1880, measuring 3.6 x 3.8cm, gross weight 13.1 grams.
This antique brooch/pendant is in fine condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as silver and 15ct gold.
An exquisite Victorian diamond brooch from the collection of Bentley and Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The diamonds in this brooch shimmer wonderfully as they catch the light, displaying an arresting fire and brilliance. This floral-looking brooch features four old-cut diamonds surrounded by diamond clusters, each set between fleur-de-lys diamond motifs. The fleur-de-lys shape is a symbol that predates France, and it was used by ancient civilizations and cultures. This beautiful brooch can also be worn as a pendant, and will look wonderful with a black cocktail dress.
