William Spratling Mexican Modernist Sterling Silver & Gemstone 'Conch" Brooch

About the Item

A fine William Spratling brooch or pin. In the shape of a stylized conch shell supported by a dark green disc. Comprised of sterling silver and a smooth polished dark green gemstone (that we believe to be aventurine quartzite.) Simply compelling design from the important Mexican modernist - William Spratling. Date: Mid-20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with some small chips to the bottom edge of the gemstone disc, some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Fineness: Marked 925 for sterling silver fineness.
