William Spratling Conch Shell Earrings Pin Brooch Set 980 Silver Vintage Taxco
About the Item
From the collection of Phyllis M. Goddard, widely respected collector, researcher and author of books on William Spratling's works. She featured the pin in her book "Spratling Silver: A Field Guide", 2003, pg. 40, figure 2-56.
A beautiful set of matching earrings and brooch. Crafted of 980 silver using the repousse method into the design of stylized conch shell cross-sections. The shape is also reminiscent of a shooting star or abstract flower.
Circa 1940-1944; First Design Period.
Each earring and pin stamped Spratling Made in Mexico with WS initials. The pin is further stamped Spratling Silver in an oval cartouche. Each earring measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". Screw backs. The pin measures 2 1/4" x 1 7/8".
Provenance: from the collection of Phyllis M. Goddard.
Good condition; normal wear and surface scratches commensurate with age and use. Please see photos for condition details.
