About the Item
This is a stunning pair of early signed Ed Levin Mid-Century Modernist Dangle Drop Earrings in Sterling Silver with Pearls set in a black anodized silver disc. The earrings exude the classic early Ed Levin design and they dangle wonderfully from the ear. I love this design so full of kinetic energy. The earrings are Sterling Silver. The discs have anodized silver creating the black background. The black silver and pearls create a wonderful dramatic effect.
The earrings bear the early mark of simply "Levin".
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ed Levin born 1921, died 2008.
" In 1950 with his wife, he founded Ed Levin Jewelry and made jewelry on the stovetop in their New York apartment. He traveled by bus throughout New England to sell his jewelry to college students. In 1953 they moved to Shaftsbury, where Ed sold his artwork and jewelry from Ed Levin Arts Workshop, established in a building on their property. In 1964, he moved his workshop to Bennington where he opened a retail shop.
The earrings are 1 3/4 inches (42mm) long and the discs are 8mm in diameter.
They are hallmarked Sterling and Levin.
We have left the period patina intact. The earrings may be polished if desired.
