This master jeweler makes very little work now. These earrings are from this most recent collections and highly collectible.
Utilizing geometric shapes, these Bauhaus influenced Pueblo earrings use an inlay technique to feature fire opal, black jade, and turquoise at the center. Adorned with delicate yellow gold accents, these Native American earrings are further enriched with vibrant turquoise, symbolizing the beauty of the natural world. The combination of these precious gemstones, meticulously set in 18 karat yellow gold, results in a jewelry that effortlessly merges contemporary design with a deep appreciation for tradition and natural elements.
Richard Chavez (1949- ) was born and raised in San Felipe Pueblo, in New Mexico. Goldsmith and lapidary jeweler, Richard Chavez, an early devotee of the Bauhaus, is a master of minimalism, color, and form. As the founder of Chavez Studio, Richard has become known to his collectors as a lapidary artist with deep foundations in the refinement of design, styling, and pristine craftsmanship. Richard is constantly in the process of elevating his craft by seeking out new natural materials of the highest quality, experimenting with new polishing techniques to meet his exacting standards, and refreshing his design vocabulary. Ever the perfectionist, you will only find his hands in every step of the process of each piece he creates. His jewels are not only contemplative and beautiful but technically perfect and he creates them from start to finish - selecting each stone, polishing, cutting, designing and making. According to the late doyenne of specialists in Native American jewelry, Martha Struever, Chavez is "the contemporary jeweler to collect if you want heirlooms in the making." Chavez makes very little jewelry anymore.
