About the Item
This one-of-a-kind pair of earrings was inspired by the 7th century's Empress Wu -- the only female ruler of China to refer to herself as “Emperor” during her reign. Historians changed it to “Empress” later. As happens to many powerful women -- in the past and the present -- Wu was referred to as a "dragon lady." Wendy was inspired to take that pejorative and turn it into a work of wearable art. Giving these stunning earrings a 3-dimensional, sculptural look worth of an empress took Wendy's artisans months to accomplish. No detail was spared — you can even find an 18K rose gold tongue inside of of each dragon's mouth.
Approx. 1 oz (combined weight) 18K yellow gold, satin finish.
Each dragon has a forked tongue in 18K rose gold.
The diamonds in the horns are set in platinum.
Black rhodium detail.
Two 1.7 point tsavorite eyes in each earring (3.4 points total for pair).
