A mid-Victorian coral fringe suite, consisting of a necklace, a bangle, a pair of earrings and a brooch, all set with coral beads in a cluster design within a yellow gold rope design border, with coral bead surround in a yellow gold mount with floral motif decoration, circa 1860, the necklace measuring approximately 38 x 5.2cm, the earrings measuring approximately 5.5 x 2cm, the brooch measuring approximately 7.6 x 3.4c, and the bangle with approximate diameter 5.6cm, gross weight 81.5 grams. A magnificent mid-nineteenth century suite. This archaeological revival set is a wonderful example of the Victorian interest in jewellery of the ancient world. This suite features a matching necklace, earrings, brooch, and bracelet. Each piece features a central cabochon-cut coral bead set into a gold disc which is decorated with delicate gold filigree. Further glowing corals decorate the exterior of the disc, and a gold fringe completes each piece of the set. This stunning suite comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
