Antique Vauxhall Glas Dangling Earrings Stars and Flowers Facetted Mirror Glas.
About the Item
These earrings have been converted from dangling to pierced earrings. The earrings are made up from carved and facetted coloured mirror glass produced by the Vauxhall Glass Works in South London. This kind of secondary jewellery was very popular around 1860. Besides earrings, here were hairpins, brooches, necklaces and bracelets , crafted out of Vauxhall Glass. The colours of the segments of mirrored glass used to to create these cheerful pieces of jewellery were green, purple,red, blue, gold and silver. The star was a favorite design also used for hair pins and hair ornaments.
