A Pair of Natural Pearls and Diamond Gold Earrings in the Zelda Collection by Jewelry Designer, Sarah Ho. Natural saltwater pearls radiate from a pave framed old-cut diamond centre. The hues seen in the lustre range from lavender to teal - an extraordinary array of colors. The old-cut diamond centres would have been hand-cut in the late 18th/early 19th century, before the invention of modern cutting techniques. They are timeless, romantic and have a beautiful ‘cushiony’ shape. Each earring has a centre diamond of 0.61ct and additional diamonds of 0.14ct . These earrings are crafted to have a left and right so they sit perfectly - with a stud and clip. Named the ""Zelda"" earring, this art-deco inspired design takes its name from the free-spirited muse of the early 1900s, this art-deco style defined the hedonistic look of the women of the era. The diameter is 30mm Natural pearls are incredibly rare, only 1 in 10,000 (non-farmed) oysters will ever produce a pearl, and only a small fraction of those will be of gem quality. Before the creation of the cultured pearl by Mikimoto in 1893, pearl divers would search the depths of the Arabian Gulf to seek out these jewels of the sea. The island of Bahrain was the centre of trade for these gems, and it remains today the capital for Natural pearls. An exuberant celebration of design, rare pearls, gemstones and diamonds; Sarah Ho showcases her bold and feminine creations at her Mayfair showroom and at international exhibitions and trunk shows. Having grown-up in Macau, Sarah moved to London to study fashion and jewelry design. Her interest in jewelry was ignited by the jewel collections of the iconic women in her family. Sarah went on to study gemmology in Antwerp, preparing her to launch her fine jewelry company in 2006. The gemstones and diamonds take precedence in each of Sarah’s designs; whether it be an array of faceted and cabochon stones with diamond capped beads, Paraiba tourmalines graduating from sea green to sky blue or the ring with the rare natural rainbow pearl amidst the rose cut diamonds. Sarah hand-paints each design concept, dreaming-up alluring color combinations and striking silhouettes. Romantic and contemporary arrangements of pearls, diamonds and gems are crafted in to vibrant motifs with her signature enamel patterns, lacework and precious beads; culminating in to a unique and remarkable jewel. Often led by the stone for the design, Sarah takes care to source her gems responsibly and ethically - whether it’s charitable initiatives or reimagining an old piece.
