About the Item
This is a wonderful pair of rare antique Victorian Fly Insect Earrings with Rose Cut Diamonds and Pearls in 14 Karat White and Yellow Gold. The Victorian - Edwardian insect jewels are of the highest quality and exude the elegance of the period. The flies are beautifully made. The pearls are exquisite silvery white pearls of 8 and 5mm. The wings are adorned with Rose Cut Diamonds. The wings are white gold, the remainder of the jewels are yellow gold. This whimsical pair dance delightfully from the ears. The Victorians adored their insect jewels and these earrings are some of the most beautiful and elegant we have seen.
Provenance: From the personal Paris collection of one of Cartier's most esteemed Jewelers who created some of Cartier's most exquisite designs.
The flies are 17mm (5/8 inch) tall by 18mm wide. They are 13mm deep.
