Antique Children Miniature Painting Clasp Bracelet Necklace Gold England 1790
About the Item
Oval clasp for a bracelet or a necklace with a miniature showing two little girls. The girls have short hair, typical for the post revolutionary fashion. The bigger child is holding a scarf in her right hand. The smaller girl has her finger on her chin and holds a twig in her right hand behind her back. Both girls are wearing white undergarments. Their heads are turned to the left, something seems to hold their attention. The miniature is painted in gouache in blue hues. It is mounted under glass in an oval 14K gold frame decorated with a dot pattern. This piece of jewellery is typical example of the last decade of the 18th century.
