About the Item
Old Gripoix NECKLACE and BRACELET set,
composed of small beads in gadrooned gilt metal enhanced with glass beads in pendants,
imitation ruby, emerald, white cultured pearls,
50s vintage,
by Maison Gripoix,

The oldest and probably best-known of the haute couture jewelry workshops, Maison Gripoix has endured for four generations of the family, their most famous collaborator and client being Coco Chanel, who began working at Maison Gripoix with Suzanne Gripoix. in the 1920s, until 1969. Known for their technique of imitation mother-of-pearl and for their emblematic creations in mother-of-pearl and cast glass.
Technique developed by Augustine Gripoix has been recognized and appreciated by the greatest Haute Couture Houses, such as Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent and Dior… without forgetting Givenchy, Balmain, Lacroix, Loulou de la Falaise, Nina Ricci and Louis Vuitton… .

Le plus ancien et probablement le plus connu des ateliers de bijoux de haute couture, la Maison Gripoix a perduré pendant quatre générations de la famille, leur plus célèbre collaboratrice et cliente étant Coco Chanel, qui a commencé à travailler à la Maison Gripoix avec Suzanne Gripoix dans les années 1920, jusqu'en 1969. Connus pour leur technique d'imitation de la nacre et pour leurs créations emblématiques en nacre et en verre coulé.
Technique élaborée par Augustine Gripoix a été reconnue et appréciée par les plus grandes Maisons de Haute Couture, telles Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent et Dior… sans oublier Givenchy, Balmain, Lacroix, Loulou de la Falaise, Nina Ricci et Louis Vuitton....

Magnificent old massive NECKLACE,

length of the necklace (the smallest row) 38 cm, weight 323 g,
NECKLACE is in good condition, except for the transparent oval pendants which are damaged. You can take them off as they are detachable.
Françoise MONTAGUE took over the De Saurma jewelry workshop at the end of the 1940s.
After the takeover, his most important clients are Nina Ricci and Franck & Fils.
Montague's creations are not marked and it is often difficult to identify them correctly. Montague continued to work in the business through the 1950s and 1960s, winning awards including the Grand Prix des Créations de Bijouterie Costumerie in 1961, and maintaining a loyal following.
In 1978 the business was taken over by Marion Stern who still oversees the Françoise Montague workshop in Paris.
