Robert Goossens was born in 1927 in Paris. His mother is employed in a theater and his father works as a bronze caster.
In 1942, he began his apprenticeship as a goldsmith-casemaker at Bauer, a workshop that worked for Maison Cartier. In 1949, having become a craftsman at home, he carried out a wide variety of orders requiring a great mastery of different techniques, such as marquetry on ivory, tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl, wood and leather work, sculpture, painting or even enamelling. .
In 1950, he founded his goldsmith's house in Paris, in the Marais. Three years later, he began a fruitful cooperation with Gabrielle Chanel, for whom he made jewelry until the designer's death in 1971. Goossens also worked for Yves Saint Laurent, Elsa Schiaparelli and Cristóbal Balenciaga.
Robert Goossens died on January 7, 2016 at the age of 88.

Robert Goossens naît en 1927 à Paris. Sa mère est employée dans un théâtre et son père travaille comme fondeur en bronze.
En 1942, il commence son apprentissage d’orfèvre-boîtier chez Bauer, un atelier qui travaille pour la Maison Cartier. En 1949, devenu artisan à domicile, il exécute des commandes très variées exigeant une grande maîtrise de différentes techniques, telles la marqueterie sur ivoire, écaille et nacre, le travail du bois et du cuir, la sculpture, la peinture ou encore l’émaillage.
Il fonde en 1950 sa maison d’orfèvrerie à Paris, dans le Marais. Trois ans plus tard, il entame une coopération fructueuse avec Gabrielle Chanel, pour qui il fabrique des bijoux jusqu’à la mort de la créatrice en 1971. Goossens travaille également pour Yves Saint Laurent, Elsa Schiaparelli et Cristóbal Balenciaga.
Robert Goossens meurt le 7 janvier 2016 à l'âge de 88 ans.

You can take them off as they are detachable. Françoise MONTAGUE took over the De Saurma jewelry workshop at the end of the 1940s. After the takeover, his most important clients are Nina Ricci and Franck & Fils. Montague's creations are not marked and it is often difficult to identify them correctly. Montague continued to work in the business through the 1950s and 1960s, winning awards including the Grand Prix des Créations de Bijouterie Costumerie in 1961, and maintaining a loyal following. In 1978 the business was taken over by Marion Stern who still oversees the Françoise Montague workshop in Paris.
