About the Item

Four different components came together to make this sexy new 14 karat yellow gold chain. The curb chain itself is standard jeweler's inventory that's been kicking around the store for a few years. Eytan Brandes removed the lobster clasp and added the toggle, which is newly cast from an antique silver toggle. For the end ring, he pried one of the rings off of a boring brooch -- one of those pins where a cluster of rings makes a kind of wreath. The ring looks great -- it's thick and has squared edges -- but it's hollow and too lightweight to stand up to the solid toggle. (Strangulation alert!) Rather than lose the ring, Eytan decided to add some weight. The tassel -- from his mysterious pile of 1950's gold tassels acquired several years ago -- is his happy solution. It moves freely from a large matching bale and is the perfect finishing touch! Measurements: Chain length (including the end ring): 19" Tassel length (including bale): 2" Chain thickness: 1.4mm Chain width: 3mm Marks: The original chain plate has been left in place (you can see in the photos that it's like a little added link above the end ring). This plate shows that the chain was made in Italy by one of its largest goldsmiths, UnoAErre. The marks are "14K ITALY AUREA UnoAERRE"). All other components -- the toggle, ring and tassel -- are unmarked but guaranteed to be 14 karat gold. Weight: 22.3 grams Note: Let us know if you would like us to remove the chain plate.
