About the Item

The carved deep red tourmaline (rubelite) of a proud and noble figure with the dress of a native American Indian chief respected by his people. It is 18K and marked on the verso. This well carved stone depicts a three dimensional figure with very fine detail in the face and the headdress. It measures approximately: 40.7 mm., or 1.50 inches in length, 31.6 mm. in width or 1.25 inches, from nose to head dress, and 6.7 mm in depth at its deepest point. In the head dress are 5 long baguette cut light pink tourmaline. The carved rubellite is prong set and backed in gold. This double prongs are 14K, and not 18K. Sometimes with heavy fabrics 14K is preferred. This clip brooch is a dynamic and visually exciting presentation of a respected figure in formal attire. It can be worn on a chain so that it can be a pendant. The price listed is for the brooch only. The chain shown is not included in the sale price. Please inquire if one would like a price on this chain which has an unusual complex interconnecting link, is 18K, marked 750, and 16.5 inches long. The identity of the carved stone, estimated to weigh approximately 40 cts., was determined using the GIA Gem instrument Duplex Refractometer.
