Antique 15K Gold Moonstone Drop Necklace with Fancy Link Chain
About the Item
Offered is a graceful late Victorian to early Edwardian period Moonstone Drop or Fringe Necklace. Fifteen round and oval cabochon cut Moonstones are suspended from a beautiful 15K gold fancy link chain, for an estimated total carat weight of 15.09 carats.
With a length of approximately 18 inches (45.72 cm), this is a very wearable piece, unlike many that were made as chokers for very small neck sizes.
Each polished cabochon moonstone is set in a dainty, minimalistic gold bezel (very like a spectacle setting) that is attached to gold trace chain. (there is one photos where reflections make one bezel look less gold - that is just a trick of the light) Varying degrees of ethereal blue schiller move over the moonstones, depending upon the lighting, the background and the way the stones are moved. The center stone has the lightest bit of blue but it is there at some angles and in some lighting.
Attached to the gold trace chain is fancy link chain or a "paperclip" style chain that really elevates the necklace. It closes with a small old bolt ring style clasp.
Overall, the necklace is in very good antique condition with light wear; I see one small old repair to one bezel. It's ready to wear and enjoy.
