Art Deco Chinese Jade Link and Tassel Pendant Necklace

About the Item

A stunning jade necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920s) era! This beautiful and bold piece is crafted in gilded sterling silver and comprised of incredible jade cabochon links that rest dramatically along the neckline. A wonderful reflection of its Chinese origin, all of the jade stones are ornately bezel set within a twisted rope wirework frame. The necklace is comprised of two strands of jade links decorating the front, anchored by 4 larger jade cabochons at either end, two of which rest vertically at the center. Dangling from the large central link is a gorgeous 3-dimensional carved jade stone, which adorns a chain tassel hanging from the base. All of the jade exhibits a lovely light green color and is marbled with pale streaks of milky white, pairing perfectly against the golden gilded background. Finishing the stunning design is a single strand of jade links at the back, which trail into an ornate push clasp featuring a lovely carved floral motif on the front surface. Stamped on the back of the clasp, and on two of the large jade links is a "STERLING" silver purity mark, beside "CHINA," and "NO23." The bold necklace drapes beautifully along the neckline, creating a stunning statement piece when worn! The necklace measures 21" in total length. The smaller jade links measure about 5/8" in diameter and are 1/4" thick, and the larger jade links measure 1 1/8" in diameter and are 1/2" thick. The center large jade link and tassel pendant extension hang approximately 3 3/4" long. The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded sterling silver setting. All of the jade stones are intact and securely set and free of any apparent cracks or chips. The clasp is secure and is in good working condition. There is a slightly darkened patina on some of the silver gilt, which is common given the age of the piece and adds wonderful dimension and unique beauty to the design.
