Georgian Aquamarine and Gold Cannetille Suite

About the Item

A Georgian aquamarine and gold cannetille suite, the necklace consisting of three emerald-cut aquamarine-set gold links, connected with two oval-cut aquamarine-set clusters, attached to a fine gold mesh chain by three floral links on each side, set with oval-cut aquamarines, with clasp set with an oval-cu aquamarine, the detachable cross pendant centrally-set with a cushion-cut aquamarine and an oval-cut aquamarine set on each arm, the drop earrings set with pear shaped and oval-cut aquamarines, all mounted in yellow gold, circa 1800, accompanied by original fitted box, the necklace measuring approximately 42 x 2.3cm, the cross measuring approximately 6 x 5.2cm and the earrings measuring approximately 6.8 x 1.7cm, gross weight 75.5 grams. This exquisite and intricate suite comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. This suite features detailed cannetille, a technique used frequently in the early nineteenth century. The detailed openwork gold surrounds an arrangement of faceted aquamarine, which provides a beautiful contrast to the bright yellow gold. This set features a necklace with a magnificent pendant and a pair of dramatic earrings. A wonderful and historic set. Should you choose to make this purchase we will delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
