Artist Sterling ProngSetCrystalPendants For FreshFlowers Jewelers'Werk Necklace

About the Item

Made by a gallery-exhibited artist, this ingenious signed sterling-silver chain link collar necklace that fastens with a handcrafted filigree floral clasp features eight convertible prong-set pink-gem pendants whose interchangeable contents, such as fresh flower heads, are up to you. It was acquired in the late 1990s from the U.S. avant-garde modern jewelry exhibition space Jewelers' Werk based in Washington D.C., which is printed on the included original black box with gold text. The versatile necklace enables the wearer to chose a wide variety of objects that can be pierced by the removable fuchsia studs--from felt balls to folded origami paper--to attach to the likewise removable oxidized sterling cups. The perhaps morganite or crystal studs, whose ends are not visible after affixing such objects, can be mixed with your own earrings, such as pearl or diamond studs or even one or more that dangle symmetrically to enable more movement when worn. As shown in photos, a buyer can avoid the contact of such interchangeable objects with long hair by removing studded cups towards the back of the neck, which reveals symmetrical sterling-stud fasteners that also serve to link the chain necklace. If the collector would like to use all of the sterling cups that surround the neck, one of the studs is missing its crystal, which can be replaced if entirely pink stones are preferred. We photographed the necklace mostly populated by fresh daisy heads, which will slowly wilt over several hours. We also suggest attaching such flower heads in different stages of decay or colors to call attention to each one. The artist who handcrafted this necklace, whose maker's mark is no longer recognizable, enables you to be just as creative. We will polish the sterling before delivery upon request while the discolored spots are merely tarnish.

Without a post-1955 copyright symbol and with the brand's earliest script signature, this likely late 1940s signed Renoir shiny copper choker necklace features 18 links each stylized as a tulip flowerhead in a modernized bolder Art Nouveau style. The American jewelry company's exclusive durable "Copron" finishing on the top of the links prevents tarnishing and fingerprints. The functional tiny linear links and the reverse side of the necklace were meant to remain blackened, while a black signature is impressed on the underside of the fold-over clasp. Comparatively without the additional enamel decoration of the company's post-1952 jewelry line signed Matisse...
