Egyptian Revival Faience Turquoise and Brown Scarab Pendant with 14K Gold Mount
Located in Venice, CA
During the early 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and introduced what is referred to as "Egyptian Revival Jewelry." The first Egyptian Revival period began around the 1820’s, inspired by the unearthing of ancient Egyptian ruins during that time. Images such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs, and hieroglyphics became popular motifs in fashion. Pieces were often crafted using a material known as Egyptian Paste or "faience", which is the oldest form of non-clay glazed ceramic and usually found in a range of blue and green colors.  In the 1920’s, there was another unearthing of treasures, making the trend popular once again. This scarab pendant is from that era—the third Egyptian Revival period. The scarab is a turqoise colored faience bead with brown and beige overtones in its recesses that delineate the shape of the beetle. There are hieroglyphics on the back of the scarab. At the bottom of the scarab is a round 14k gold ball that extends as a wire through the bead and forms a bale at the top. The pendant measures 15/16“ from the bottom of the ball to the top of the bail. The scarab measures 1/2” x 3/8”. The bale measures 5 mm. The piece weighs 1.63 grams. The gold in unmarked and acid tests as 14k. The scarab is in excellent condition for its age and is ready to hang on a chain of your choice. We have other sizes and colors of scarab jewelry...

Egyptian Revival King Tut Khepri Scarab Necklace 18Kt Gold with Carved Gemstones
Located in Miami, FL
An Egyptian revival king Tut Khepri Scarab necklace Beautiful colorful piece made with Egyptian motifs from the ancient kingdom of the Pharaohs. The dominant part is the figure of the sacred scarab with the feathers of the god Khepri flanked by two minor scarabs and two lotus flower symbols. This magnifique piece has been carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and accented with applications of enamel, fitted with a lobster security lock. Khepri, is the god of sunrise connected to the scarab beetle. Young dung beetles, having been laid as eggs within the dung ball, emerge from it fully formed and thus were considered to have been created from nothingness. Egyptians believed that each day the sun was also reborn or created from nothing. In the same way that the beetle pushes large balls of dung along the ground, Khepri moved the newly-born sun across the sky. Khepri was a solar deity and thus connected to the rising sun and the mythical creation of the world. The god and the scarab beetle represent creation and rebirth. Scarab originated in Ancient Egypt. A scarab is shaped like a dung beetle. There is a head, wing case, and legs. It is sometimes rounded and sometimes flat. The scarab was associated with the god Khepri who was the god or rebirth, creation, and the sun. Dung beetles were the earthly personification of Khepri as they would lay their eggs in balls of dung and then roll the dung balls all around until the eggs hatched. Early hieroglyphics depict Khepri as a scarab holding up the sun. There were hundreds of memorial scarabs created to memorialize Amenhotep III’s deeds. These included the bull hunt scarab which symbolizes strength and victory over chaos. Later, around 2000 BCE the scarab was used in jewelry and as seals. The amulets were worn as protection against the dangers of this world and the afterlife. The scarab represented the sun god Ra that rolled across the sky each day. Between the 16th and 11th- century heart scarabs...

Kenneth Jay Lane 1970 / 1980s Egyptian Revival Scarab Link Necklace
Located in New York, NY
Dating from the late half of the 1970s to the mid 1980s is this unusual and rare Kenneth Jay Lane scarab link long necklace. Due to the popularity of the contents and artifacts of the King Tutankhamon exhibition that toured the world from 1972 to 1981, Egyptian iconography appeared in all forms of design in home decor and fashion. Kenneth Lane created several Egyptian revival pieces of jewelry including this long necklace. Each oval link is cast in the form of an Egyptian scarab, a symbol of the sun god Re and good luck. The scarab links are domed with the larger measuring .63 of an inch wide and 1.5 inches long including the top and bottom rings and .25 of an inch high. The smaller scarab link is .44 of an inch wide and 1.19 inches long including the top and bottom rings. The necklace measures 32.5 inches long and has and hook and ring clasp. On the ring of the clasp is the oval signature tag or charm inscribed with Kenneth Lane and a copyright symbol. The gold plate is a rich yellow gold in very good condition with very minimal to almost no wear. The last photo show a second Kenneth Jay Lane Egypt...
