About the Item
An early 20th century diamond-set tiara/necklace by Skinner & Co, the five principal old-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a combined total of 2 carats, each rub over millegrain-set to a scroll and foliate design embellished with small rose and old European-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a further total of 5 & ¾ carats, all mounted in platinum, with base metal tiara frame, converting to a necklace with an associated foliate design back section set with small rose and old-cut diamonds estimated to weigh 0.9 carats in total, with original fitted box, circa 1920, measuring 5.7 x 15cm, gross weight 40.6 grams.
This antique tiara/necklace is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as platinum with 15ct gold clasp and base metal frame.
This enchanting tiara and necklace was made in the early twentieth century and features distinctively Art Nouveau and Edwardian design influences. Elegant and sparkling, this piece features an array of old mine cut, rose cut, and old European cut diamonds mounted in platinum. Designed to be worn as both a tiara and a necklace, this versatile piece catches the light beautifully. This tiara comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
