Ancient Greek 4th Century BC Warrior with Helmet Coin 18k Gold Pendant

About the Item

An authentic silver "stater" coin from Tarsos in Cilicia (now a region along the coast of Turkey below the Hellespont) depicts Pharnabazus II (379-374 BC), a Persian soldier and statesman, who was noted for aiding the Athenians against the Spartans in the Corinthian War. He commanded the Achaemenid fleet at the Battle of Cnidus (394 BC) in which the Persians, allied with Athens, annihilated the Spartan fleet, thus ending Sparta's brief status as the dominant Greek naval power. This may have been one of the first coins minted to depict a living person, rather than a god or goddess. This rare and unusual ancient coin is set within a handmade "stacked jawan" granulated 18K setting designed by Steven Battelle. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The finely handwoven 22K chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 20" and 22 " lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Historic!
