Antique French Art Nouveau Ruby and Diamond 20K Gold Pendant
About the Item
This antique four-leaf clover pendant dates back to the Art Nouveau movement, 1890-1914. The lovely four-leaf clover shape pendant is created in 20 karat yellow gold depicting a female portrait in a bass-relief profil. She is wearing a headband consisting of four eight-sided cut diamonds, two garnets and one ruby in the center.
The four-leaf clover goes back for centuries - an ancient Irish good luck symbol. As the Celts believed that the four-leaf clover could help them avoid mischief and see or spot fairies. It was believed that the four leaves possessed mystical powers. In the 19th and early 20th century jewelry - an era steeped in sentimentality - the four leaf clover was also a well-known token of hope, love and good luck.
The pendant is in very good condition, the reverse shows gently signs of use. All stones are present and in great condition. The pendant measures 4.1 centimeters in length and 3.4 centimeters wide. It has a nice weight of 4.68 grams. French hallmark is visible and present, 833. The pendant comes without the chain.
The pendant will be gift-wrapped in a black and gold jewelry box.
