Antique Art Nouveau Four Leaf Clover Diamond Locket Pendant
About the Item
An antique four-leaf clover locket pendant dating back to the Art Nouveau movement, 1890-1914. The beautiful good luck pendant is created in 14 karat yellow gold in the shape of a four-leaf clover, depicting a female portrait in a bass-relief profil. The elegant woman is wearing a headband and choker set with seven rose-cut diamonds. This 14 karat yellow gold locket is perfect to keep your loved ones close. Inside the locket you can place a photos that you can admire as soon as you open the locket. The gold ring will keep the photo in place.
The four-leaf clover goes back for centuries - an ancient Irish good luck symbol. As the Celts believed that the four-leaf clover could help them avoid mischief and see or spot fairies. It was believed that the four leaves possessed mystical powers. In the 19th and Early 20th century jewelry - an era steeped in sentimentality - the four-leaf clover was also a well-known token of hope, love and good luck.
The pendant is in very good condition, the reverse shows little signs of use. All diamonds are present and in great condition. The pendant measures 3.2 cm in length including bail, 2.3 cm wide and weighs 5.12 grams. Hallmark 585 and Roman numerals XXV present and visible on the inside.
