About the Item
A Victorian diamond, silver, and rosy toned gold gold pendant and hair pin, comprising one large old mine cut diamond, twenty-seven smaller old mine cut diamonds, and eighteen rose cut diamonds, set in silver, and backed in 9 karat gold, with a 9 karat gold hair pin fitting.
This handsome 12-pointed diamond star is set to the centre with a large old mine cut diamond. The diamond is bright, white, sparkly, with great clarity and colour, and is held within a pinched silver setting. The central diamond is surrounded by a flower-shaped motif, with each petal set with a small old mine cut diamond. From here, 6 slender points burst forth, each set with 2 graduating old mine cut diamonds, and 2 rose cut diamonds. Shorter points intersperse the larger and are each set with one old mine cut diamond, and one rose cut diamond. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well-matched with one another, and are set in silver to accentuate their sparkle. The star is fitted with a detachable diamond-set bale, which can be unclipped from a hook at the back of the piece, allowing the pendant to be worn with a chain of your choosing. A pair of gold loops allow the hair pin fitting to be attached securely to the star, clipping into the pendant hook as well, for added security. The hair pin attachment resides in a hidden compartment in the base of the box, accessed by removing the fitted velvet insert. The piece is in great condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age. Please note, the chain you see in the photos is for display only, and not included.
