Art Deco Large Carved Onyx and Diamond Locket with Silk Sautoir 2.00 Carat

About the Item

An absolutely magnificent onyx and diamond locket/pendant necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920s) era! This gorgeous and unusual piece is comprised of a substantial onyx and diamond locket pendant which hangs from a complementary sautoir style silk necklace. The locket is crafted of solid black onyx which is hand-carved into a rectangular shape with clipped corners. On the front of the piece is a raised oval shape that has a convex face and a large single diamond set in the center. The substantial diamond is bezel set and has a total approximate weight of 2.00ctw with I color and SI2 clarity. The onyx locket hangs from a simple platinum bail which is accented with 2 additional diamonds and on the back is an enameled framed glass locket which is a perfect place for your favorite photograph. The large locket pendant hangs from an adjustable silk ribbon sautoir, attaching at a hidden hook bail on the back. The sautoir holds a fabulous Deco design at the center, adorned with Single Cut diamonds and faceted onyx stones which are set in platinum and accented by fine milgrain detail. The rich black ribbon has two adjustable loops on either side, giving one the option to lengthen the piece as desired. The hidden 14kt yellow gold hook bail attaches the locket to the necklace and could also be used to pair with other complementary pieces. The very striking and bold design makes this unusual locket and necklace combination a wonderful addition to any collection! The locket hangs approximately 2 1/4" in total length, is 1 3/8" wide, and slightly more than 1/2" thick. The silk sautoir necklace measures approximately 26" at its longest length and 14.5" at its shortest. The central diamond and onyx motif measures 2" wide.

Wear consistent with age and use. The silk, platinum, 14kt gold, and diamond are all in excellent condition. There is a minuscule chip at the upper-left edge of the onyx locket, nearly invisible to the naked eye, that does not affect the overall integrity or beauty of the piece.
