Cartier Art Deco Jade, Coral, Onyx and Platinum Diamond Sautoir Necklace

About the Item

This 1920s Art Deco masterpiece by Cartier was inspired by the exotic gemstone combinations and design motifs of the Far East. Long sautoirs were all the rage and complimented the softer fashions of the day. It's in excellent estate condition and has descended through generations of a prominent American family's collection. The necklace composed of coral, black onyx and jade beads, joined by delicate platinum diamond-set bar links, suspending a rectangular carved apple green jade plaque app. 59.5 x 39.0 x 7.0 mm, signed Cartier, N.Y., no. 371, ca. 1925, measuring 29 inches long, weighing 73.7 grams.
