Australian´s Lightning Ridge Dark Solid Opal and Diamond Pendant

Australian´s Lightning Ridge Dark Opal and Diamond Pendant mounted in 18 Karat Gold. First Quarter 20th Century.
Quite noticeable approx. near 1-inch long, a many-splendored gemstone--an elegantly elongated 8.83 carat oval Australian opal--glistens and glows with a kaleidoscopic display of rainbow-colored streamers and confetti. Set in a tasteful vintage-style mounting, crowned with 18 sparkling white diamonds approx. 0.80 carat weight presented in 18 Karat white Gold (hallmarked), it from an 16 more-inch yellow gold chain
Opal measuring 21mmX16.70mmX4.22mm (0.87 in X 0.66 in X 0.17 in), approx. 8.83 carats. Play of color is a mixture of pattern types Pinfire dominant and Cloverleaf. Predominant Colors: Pinkish-Red, Blue.
Chain in 18 Karat yellow Gold, length 41cm (16.14 in) added later in time.
Total weight 12.12 g. (including the chain).
*Dark opals have a body tone lighter than black opals and darker than white opals. It is opaque like a black opal but it has a slightly lighter body shade.
