About the Item
Goldie has a tasty little seed pearl in her long beak and would be ready for takeoff if not for the fact she's weighed down by her enormous golden pearl body. Oh well!
Eytan Brandes found this adorable and unusual antique gold stickpin at a trade show and recognized her instantly as the perfect bale for his gorgeous new South Sea pearl.
The stickpin was not marked but we purchased her from an antique jewelry dealer who estimated a production date no later than 1910. She's 14 karat gold and has a tiny ruby eye.
We got the golden pearl from Continental Pearl, based in Los Angeles, an established dealer in Tahitian, South Sea and Akoya pearls. This is a luscious, undyed South Sea jumbo pearl, 16.2mm wide and 17.7mm long, drop-shaped but very plump, with rich gold color and high luster. Flaws toward the top of the pearl have been oriented to the back.
The chain is another vintage find, probably from the 1950's. It's a 14 karat yellow gold 1.5mm belcher link, 18" long. If you would like a shorter length or a different type of chain, please let us know. Note that, as currently presented, the pendant is not removable.
