About the Item

Set in this 18Kt gold pendant is an authentic Roman coin from 49 BC. C. which depicts an elephant that is trampling on a snake (symbol of Victory over evil). The coin was minted by the military mint that traveled with Julius Caesar in April 49 BC. In the back: simpulum, aspergillum, securis with priestly hat: everything refers to the position of Julius Caesar's Pontifex Maximum. Gaius Julius Caesar ( 12 July 100 BC – 15 March 44 BC) was a Roman general and statesman. A member of the First Triumvirate, Caesar led the Roman armies in the Gallic Wars before defeating Pompey in a civil war and governing the Roman Republic as a dictator from 49 BC until his assassination in 44 BC.
