About the Item
A round 9 mm cabochon Zambian emerald is set in a beautifully crafted classic handmade granulated high-karat gold setting. The clear greens of the emerald contrast against the rich yellows of the geometric "jawan" motif. A miniature masterpiece of painstaking traditional gold-smithing, each tiny granule is placed individually by hand. (note size with dime) . The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Steven Battelle
After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age. If you wish to create your own special piece, similar to a style we make, please let us know, and we'll see what we can do.
