About the Item
A dramatic soft and flexible-as-fabric belt and necklace, this piece is one of a kind and is created by linking small four holed "tiles" or "sections" with jump rings in a kind of woven looking piece of jewelry. Having carved the four holed sculptural connector, Robert Lee Morris was inventing yet another way for his jewelry visions to be as sensuous and fluid as possible. In 1993, before his 25 year retrospective exhibition at the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Morris developed this fabric like construction to make a whole new variety of wearable jewelry. Due to its long length, this is a multifaceted accessory, as one can wear is so many ways. It is up to the creativity of the wearer to devise as many new ways to wrap this liquid gold around themselves. Luxurious, dramatic and extremely comfortable.
Often the image of the brand Robert Lee Morris, is of heavy, chunky solid metal jewelry, while this is a perfect example of how Morris has broadened his app-roach by creating fabric like metalwork.
