Bound in full calf leather with gilt floral tooling along the spine and a red gilt title label, this volume has been professionally restored by a specialist antiquarian book preservationist, ensuring the spine remains structurally sound while preserving the period aesthetic. The gilt decorations and raised bands retain their richness, giving the book a commanding presence on any shelf. Vanity Fair, often described as Thackeray’s greatest achievement, introduced the unforgettable character Becky Sharp and remains one of the defining novels of the Victorian age. First editions are highly sought after, particularly when attractively bound and carefully restored to ensure longevity. Author: William Makepeace Thackeray Title: Vanity Fair. A Novel without a Hero Edition: First edition, English (1848) Binding: Full calf, gilt floral tooled spine, red gilt title label Condition: Very good; spine professionally restored by a preservation specialist. Cufflinks English Victorian Essex Crystal
Located in Southbury, CT
Carved crystal cabochons are painted on the reverse to portray two little black and white terriers. Perhaps the only thing more wonderful in the world than a pair of carved crystal cufflinks from England depicting man's best friend is a pair of carved crystal cufflinks from England depicting man's best friend in a beastly mood. Which is why I laugh every time I look at these cufflinks. From a distance, they're quite sophisticated. Perfectly appropriate for a weekend at Balmoral, should you ever receive an invitation. Only upon closer inspection can you see the tiny little frowns on each dog's face. In addition, the eyes look wide open in shock or alarm, as if the food bowl has inexplicably levitated from the floor and is now hovering above the refrigerator, entirely out of reach. The crystals have a diameter of approximately 15.66 mm and the gold toggles 25.64 mm long by 5.96 mm at their widest point, so these cufflinks should fit a range of different-sized holes. I live with three dogs myself so I am admittedly biased, but these antique English cufflinks are, I think, maybe the greatest pair of cufflinks ever created. They even come in their original box. Made near 1860, the cufflinks are hallmarked "WJH." The 18K metal fineness mark and other assay marks are less legible. The fact that these cufflinks have remained with their original and quite clever (you'll see when you remove the 'links) case is surely one of the reasons they are in such fine condition. I have passed on so many pairs of canine and equestrian-themed Essex crystal...

Imperial Topaz & Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5
Located in Southbury, CT
This vivid pink imperial topaz ring -hand-crafted in England over 180 years ago- is one of the rarest and most unapologetically regal rings you will ever encounter. A size 10.5 ring, it was originally created for a man. But could of course be worn by anyone today. In the era this ring was created, men wore pearls. And no man would feel uncomfortable wearing a flashy pink gemstone because there is absolutely no other gemstone that looks like this. Topaz is a common gemstone and is typically white. It is irradiated to achieve its popular blue and pink colors. But naturally pink topaz is not common. It is in fact exceedingly rare, considerably rarer than diamonds. And this particular natural pink topaz gem is vividly saturated. It flashes purple. Having reviewed images of the pink imperial topaz necklace and earrings King Charles presented his wife, Queen Camilla...
