Pair James Robinson 18th Cent. Georgian Style Sterling Silver Taper Candlesticks

About the Item

A fine pair of sterling silver taper candlesticks. By Thomas Bradbury & Son for James Robinson. Each candlestick with a square base with indented & rounded corners supporting a tapered body imitating classic 18th Century style. Each marked to the edge of the base with English hallmarks for Thomas Bradbury & Son, Sheffield, Sterling, & S for 1960. Simply a great pair of diminutive silver candlesticks from James Robinson! Date: 1960 Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is some wax residue in each candle cup. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Thomas Bradbury & Son for James Robinson Marks: Each marked to the edge of the base with English hallmarks for Thomas Bradbury & Son, Sheffield, Sterling, & S for 1960.     A fine pair of 18th century Italian brass pricket candlesticks impressively decorated in a baroque style with knopped stems and triform bases decorated with cartouche and foliage alterations. The columns are beautifully ornated on each side with leaves and floral motifs typical of the Baroque era. The finely detailed columns stand on tripartite bases. The columns are finished with large round brass cups that have scalloped edges and 75mm tall iron prickets. In the centre of each leg there is an elegant escutcheon surrounded by scrolls and finalised with a leaf decoration.
